By 2000, the revised Russian national security strategy warned that NATO using force beyond its borders “’is a threat of destabilization of the whole strategic situation,” while military officers and politicians started claiming “that if NATO expands further, it would ‘create a base to intervene in Russia itself,’” the Washington Post reported.
Very interesting content. The fact that so many people believe that the Ukraine invasion was “unprovoked” — shows that the power of propaganda these days is greater than ever. It also shows that most people do not pay attention - and/or, have short memories.

Keeping Russia and China from becoming too friendly would have been a wise strategy. The problem is, we never liked either one of them. And if we threaten and pressure both… yeah, they’ll become friends. “Unite and Conquer” does not work. Global “hegemony” becomes an impossible strategy. It needs to be abandoned.

The whole thing is just very messy. We urgently need to get rid of most warmongers in our State Dept and think tanks.

Maybe make it illegal for weapons manufacturers to hand out grants and political donations?? That would save the world for sure. Let politicians fund weapons when we need them - not when they get bribed.
