I just got DirecPC. I opted for the $19.95 plan that gives unlimited access from 6pm-6am, weekends & holidays also. They restrict the bandwidth on this plan to 200kbps. At night however, I burst as fast as 1MBPS! This is because they have the extra bandwidth available. I love it. The hardware is about $300 and they throw in $100 service credit as well as 5 hours of peak time free a month. Since I use dialup from work, I don't use the dish during the day. It works perfectly for me. I found that Earthlink works great with Hughes as far as ISP's are concerned.

I did all this because my local phone lines stink (no 56k support) and I couldn't get over 26400. I use a 56k sportster for dialup.

At the same time, I installed the direcTV. It is awesome as well.

For those that won't have cable modems or xDSL for years, this is WAY cheaper than ISDN. It is much faster as well. The only problem is it is assymmetric and you need a local ISP for uploading.

I'll be glad to answer any questions regarding the service.

Scott
