CYTC had its first bit of "bad" news today. Boy, quite a reaction, huh?
I received this as rare buy op. So ThinPrep shows moderate vs significant improvement in efficacy. Even if the BCBS study is valid, better is better. When you think about it, there is no medical procedure as widely performed as paps, perhaps with the exception of dental checkups. It cuts across all demographics in industrial nations. From all indications, ThinPrep is cheaper, faster, and more accurate than the old standard. Early detection of abnormal cells that may be cancer precursor saves lives and dollars. Insurance companies are coming around because they are able to retest original samples when the results are unclear or questionable, saving a repeat (read costly) office visit.
I tend to buy CYTC when it dips below 20 as it has significant support on the chart at these levels. I didn't wait for 20 this morning. This news is overdone. Period. I'm back in. For those long held longs, I don't know what to say. This stock should be traded. I have never encountered a more well behaved chart in all my years.
