Restructuring/layoff announcement isn't really news other than it makes the exact numbers clear. After listening to the last CC it was a pretty good bet, based on Bagley's comments about 'preparing for a slow-down', that layoffs and concomitant restructuring charge were going to happen. Also, he made it pretty clear that Thermal CVD was in trouble (but the other kind of CVD that Lam is working on is in good shape). Why the surprise? The only really new info to me was the dumping of the flat panel display area. However, I have to say that that doesn't particularly bother me. Five years ago FPD was supposed to take over the world, and only about 1 month ago did I see the first one for sale for TV. Clark
