Netflix "A Pale Blue Eye" is a solid period piece mystery that starts smartly, bogs down in side plots in the middle, then throws in a very unexpected twist at the end (which is why the side plots were necessary). It's dark and dreary due to the setting and subject matter but watchable, especially for Christian Bale fans.

Not what you want if you are in a Poirot-type mood.
