Reduced to simplest, two island economies living off of fishing and coconuts should be easier to compare than what we have this day on the planet.

Failing at such simplification, Economist use Big Macs. I consume 12 Big Macs per annum. Love them. Happy that I was able to take the Jack to Burger King whilst transiting Bangkok airport recently. Burger King stuffing much better in our opinion - the bacon and flaming are good

Think perhaps some adjustments are needed to tabulate GDP, but unsure GDP itself is that relevant, or that PPP is the adjustment called for.
