When we are way up north in the winter time and put a good quality roast in the slow cooker, with a bit of water and an onion for 10-12 hours it is incredible, almost gourmet. Add some mashed potatoes and Yorkshire pudding plus gravy and it is gourmet. I made the same meal in Mexico for a lady that was curious what Canadians eat, I had her convinced we eat like that everyday.
