Re <<TJ I would wish that China China will be as technocratic as India. India is far from being a true democracy but much better than the totalitarian China.>>
I do not know enough if anything at all about India to comment, I am sure, other than asking some questions as follow-ups to what BBC, NYT, and the governments of UK / USA said; and they said "The Modi Question" is that he was one time directly responsible for genocidal work at the state level, deemed as a sanctioned person, and now he is a national leader.
My question in the main was / is not even about whether BBC / NYT / UK / USA claims are true or not, but regarding why apparent rug-pull now? I HAVE NOT CRITICISED MODI or India at any time, because I do not know enough if anything at all about Modi and India.
If Indian leadership / governance system managed to lift vast majority of Indians including 200M moslem Indians out of poverty in the past half century, I cheer. Should the Indian leadership / governance system manage to do so in the coming half century, I cheer. The same goes for any and every other domain.
The only things I know about India is that I like Indian food, but when on own I only know to order lamb rogan josh, and that I adore my upstairs Indian neighbours because they are kind, neighbourly, and the lady taught both the Coconut and the Jack to love learning
To be clear, and for avoidance of doubt, my question was and remains a simple one ... Message 34179111
Hello Arun, any comments re "The Modi Question" appreciated Message 34176223
The Modi Question by BBC (appears that the "world's largest democracy" has some issues in that Germany at one point had, or, the deep state trying to take down Modi for as yet some unclear reason, perhaps due to lack of proper engagement on the other question, The Ukraine Question" Part 1: bbc.co.uk Part 2: bbc.co.uk
In short, BBC is deep-state media, and has just released the documentaries that puts Modi in bad light.
Question: why?
I am for any government that make what I have go up in value faster than what I need go up in cost.
Unclear to me about true democracies and totalitarians, as neither buys breakfast and things useful, and per comrade Deng Xiao Ping, doesn't matter about white or black cats, as long as they catch mice. Good mousers are what we cheer for. Mice being universally hated gold, of course.
For absolute avoidance of doubt and unwarranted charges of racism / anti-Indian sentiment, I cite Message 33854280
Re <<Indians and Pakistanis are the same brown people when they are outside their countries>>
Both you and Arun have a point, just different emphasis and neither wrong.
We in the neighbourhood, within our compound, and in fact upstairs of us, and very lucky for us, have 'uncle' Jayant and 'auntie' Leela as neighbours. They originated from India, lived in HK for the past 50+ years, and until retirement perhaps 10 years ago, Jayant operated a garment business, and Leela taught at the kids' school. They have a very nice helper from Sri Lanka who does fab Indian cooking. I find the neighbours god-sent. They spent much time these days travelling to see grand kids, but still based in HK.
We have a garden and allow our neighbour to harvest spices. They love the chili pepper that is a bit too hot for us. They give us some lightly spiced dishes. Love lamb curry. ...
