Joachim, there are limits to the peer review process. No doubt the scientific community has overrepresented the value of peer review, not to mention the value of all the studies that they put forth on a daily basis.

It says a lot when you are measured not by the quality of the work you have done, but by the quantity. A researcher has a vested interest in getting his or her name attached to as many peer-reviewed studies as possible.

But if we eliminated the peer-review process, what is to replace it? How can we tell the difference between reputable research and the works of a self-proclaimed "scientist" working for the Q Continuum?

At least there is a process involved with peer review. What process is there when you just ask tEh iNtErNeTs to review your work? Do you measure the quality of a study by how many "likes" it got on Trooth Social?
