Makes plenty of sense - those who do not respect individual rights can’t be defenders of minorities.

One story of refusing to respect the rights of a minority was the use of the IRS to scatter the Tea Party movement. It was the only serious national grassroots political movement that I can remember. And they did great - until word got out that even a modest donation buys the donor an IRS audit.

I think there is some sort of a taboo against even mentioning it.
