There's nothing wrong with my memory, beyond the general decay we all experience. It's a lifelong thing and to some degree cultivated. For some reason, not knowing a name or discounting it-it actually feels like discarding when told, a fending off-gives me a better shot at first impressions.

Or at least that is my lifelong impression of first impressions.

Edit: I've met a lot of people. They all had names, Fred 23, Judy 14. That's part of it too, I do a little 'that's an R name' or 'a J name' that sometimes gets me close. Little letter buckets.
