Doing the best we can with what we've got, all one can ask.
The song's not important.
I thought about the name thing a bit more, trying to organize thoughts I've had before, it's seen as disrespectful or dismissive in some way and there probably is some of that going on. It's maybe no distinction at all but the name/word association approach would be me forming an impression, something solid to go back to, a starting point.
My experience is more of allowing an impression to form and trying to hold onto the name interferes. It might have something to do with ironwork, one and two word exchanges, hand signals, not a talkative bunch. Also need to asses skills quickly so as not to put folks out of position. Name, wife, kids, where you go on vacation, none is relevant. Different from working in an office or store.
Friday night, market flat, enough of me, say goodnight Gracie.
Nice talking to you. |
