Raptured appendix… that’s nasty. Old docs always used to say that a good surgeon will always take out a healthy appendix once in a while. Meaning, it’s better to do that - then take the risk of rapturing.

Modern imaging studies - like CT - should make the diagnosis easier.

Once, on call, I was called to the emergency room to see a new patient. She was brought in by helicopter from a small town hospital. She had a rare cardiac disease, and was already seen by the Cardiologist - and was heading to the cardiac cath lab in a few minutes. I talked to her, and something didn’t add up. I asked her - What made you come to the hospital? She pointed to her belly. Long story short, 20 minutes later she was on her way to the OR to have her appendix taken out… :)
