I suggested a quick idea off the top of my head - which could justify further investigation.

I think it would make sense to test masks used for different pre-determined periods of time. If there are no significant accumulations of bacteria at 3 hours - but they increase sharply after 4, that’s useful information. Recommend changing masks every 4 hours.

Masks protecting against a respiratory virus like CoViD is in itself a strange game. Remember reading a Scandinavian study that showed that masks made no difference. Others argue that good masks, properly worn should make a difference. In real life, very few people do that. I did see it, on occasion.

We never sunk to the abysmal depths of killing innocent animals… but much of the guidance we received was was not based on any real knowledge.
