Agree.

A big part of the changes implemented over the last few years has been a massive "dumbing down" in both North America and in Europe... to "level the playing field"... by handicapping our side, to ensure competition is "contained"... It's usual to blather on, as I'm sure I have recently enough, about that occurring in education... "participation trophies", etc., not a limit in the problem.

But, it is not, as those on the right might have it, that the problem is all and only lefty insanity intended to indoctrinate a population... allowing them to be deluded into thinking they've been educated... since they agree with what they're told... all intended to make them easy to control... but, also, intending to slow the pace of innovation, because rapid CHANGE based in innovation is far more of a threat to "them" than anything you see developing in politics, now...

Watching the "code red emergency" being issued... the panic ensuing... because of Open AI... ?

Plays right into Microsoft's wheel house... as totally incapable of actually innovating anything useful... but more than capable of being there first to acquire (and/or capture) anyone who does... and then quashing the pace in change that might otherwise result...

"They" depend on that element... to ensure "they" end up owning (controlling) anything new that does pop up... to prevent it becoming disruptive of monopoly "rents"... So a huge part of the "control" they've implemented... was accomplished by the capture of the patent system... converting the U.S. system, that rewarded (as the Constitution requires) actual (first to invent) innovators... to the European system... that rewards (first to patent) those with the biggest checkbook... and/or the best ability to hack the computers of their adversaries to steal their ideas from them... China, of course, has been deliberate in doing that... which also provides cover for the biggest global corporations, who do the same thing... by stealing from actual innovators (and each other). The story of the laser... is unique only in the element of persistence demonstrated by an inventor who spent his entire life fighting the theft... So, changes required there... including in one most obvious element... that with a bit of collusion in between the big boys... they don't have much incentive to ever actually subscribe to others "ownership" of IP... as all they have to do is agree to wait the 20 years... while they plan and proceed to "patent around" the original innovation... without ever enabling any reward for its authors.

They'll teach you in business school... about "the product life cycle... with "innovation" giving way to rapid progress and "some" competition for a time... but the winners gradually morphing into "cash cows".

What they fail to tell you... is that cycle isn't really a natural "free market" function... but a result of monopoly control imposing "rent" based models that are protected... to insulate them from competition.

So, that's going to have to be fixed... to retire the dinosaurs that have (always) dominated the markets by suppressing competition... The free and open software development concepts stymied them for a time... but, that too, is now giving way to capture by infiltration and encirclement. Prior history shows us "the same"... whether in the impact resulting from the judge driving the breakup of Ma Bell... or in the prior history of excess by monopolies... and the work done to "fix" the problem...

From the Wikipedia link:

" The Bosses of the Senate", an 1889 political cartoon by Joseph Keppler depicting corporate interests—from steel, copper, oil, iron, sugar, tin, and coal to paper bags, envelopes, and salt—as giant money bags looming over the tiny senators at their desks in the Chamber of the United States Senate. [1]

Recent history has us back there, again... on about the timeline the B schools would tell you is "what happens in free markets" (wrong !) as innovators become cash cows... The sorts of evil you see in the world today, are also close proxies for all of that as back then... also which, back then... led us into WWs I and II... all as a direct result in the function of suppression of free market functions...

In context of our conversation here the last few days...

All of that above is also fully consistent with "the politics" of national socialism... the arrangement of "public-private partnerships" or the "private ownership of capital, with state control"... which we've seen in spades, even in the degree that "the media complex" have melded with control by state operatives at the FBI to implement control over the "free market" in speech... and our electoral politics.

The "uni-party" issue... still relevant... as the corruption inherent in all that is, as corruption will tend to be... an equal opportunity employer. But, Democrats, uniquely, have committed themselves it, whole hog... while the "controlled opposition" of the RINO Republican brand... is uniquely challenged in its attempts to "maintain control over the voters"... having failed badly, with Trump... and having to "double down" on stupid in result, clearly exposing "the problem" to any with half a brain...

Fortunately, we do have quite a large population with half a brain... which is still considerably greater in function than brains on the other side, stuck in the blindness of the political myopia imposed by the "team sports" of the Uni-party... intent on imposing the opposite on the voters as that they thought they were voting for... News flash... corporations are evil and politicians are corrupt liars... every bit as much today as they were in the last round... which occurred as "socialism" was becoming "a popular new idea"... that would have growth of government help solve all our problems for us.

Reagan provided a "political end-point" to that being unquestioningly accepted in the public perception... which didn't prove an end-point in the "drift" that had been engendered... but, perhaps, began to help put the "branding" of the competing "choice" between Brand A or Brand B socialist options into clearer relief... allowing it be recognized for what it is...

The efforts we see, thus far... are more "knee jerk" reactions to the most egregious excesses...
House overrides Big Tech to pass anti-monopoly legislation
...which have spurred obvious awareness, even in the degree that it has driven unique bi-partisan responses... noting that above from September... was enacted PRIOR to the Republican's taking over the House... with support from those who were both responsible for creating the problem and its most obvious political beneficiaries... with the handwriting on the wall... those being thrown under the bus in election 2022... essentially giving the boss the finger on their way out the door...

The WEF crowd... naturally prefer the problem (and more of them as required) to the solution... and, some WEF team associates, perhaps, in the degree that the prior history will leave them stuck, now... not merely interested in resisting "change"... but "being forced into" aligning interests with "the other side"... Anyone, these days, really want to sign up to be Bill Gates publicist ? Melinda saw the handwriting on the wall, too...

And, that in the link, above, is obviously not "an end point" in the competition over undoing the NAZI control we have... but a tenuous and weak start... as you can see clearly enough in the text of the link: It stupidly relies on... the wildly corrupt and fully co-opted DOJ... to enforce the laws they intend to "solve the problem"... and, if nothing else, the DOJ have a well refined capacity to "pretend" they're "enforcing the law"... while doing the exact opposite... ie., see "immigration"...

"Correction" still required... means, among other things, not merely "markets" adjusting to new realities... but, also, a progression occurring in which the flagrant corruption, corporate and political, begins being unwound...

So, Hunter's real utility is perhaps as a poster boy for the obvious... and, if I were "them"... I'd probably be a bit nervous having my future dependent on that group of "champions" they're able to muster, now...

Note, still, that the hint of change we can see coming... is still solidly within the camp of "the practical"... as change is being made necessary merely to prevent failure ?

I've not seen anyone doing much that helps illuminate the underlying drivers and realities in the "philosophical" and "scientific" failures that clearly will attend the along with the rest of the changes we can already see beginning... or what it means, in the future... to have those changes occurring...
