Article is written by Mary and Michael.

According to family history submitted by uncle Lewis to the book Joe (my grandpa) left Handlova in 1927 and worked in Saskatchewan during the summer before arriving in northern Alberta in the late fall. Within the picture is Mary (my grandma), auntie Marie, uncle Joe, and uncle Lewis. Auntie Marie used to feed me brownies and I have previously posted her brownie recipe. Uncle Joe was called into the Canadian army in 1943 and served in Europe until 1947. I never met him though I have met his kids and the only time I rode a horse was when I stayed at his daughter's farm. Uncle Lewis used to say things I didn't understand that he thought was funny such as "ate nothing" and "a slo p". When dad and I would visit grandma at her house, after walking in I would shout "Grandma!!!" and she would laugh and say "oh yoi yoi yoi yoi".
