Thanks Wharfie. According to that article, cryptocurrency is responsible for 0.5% of all electrical consumption in the world.

Given that electricity represents roughly 20% of all CO2 emissions, that means crypto is responsible for 0.1% overall.

Neither.

I'm VERY interested in blockchain, how it is useful for public ledger transactions, and how it is indeed super-wasteful when it comes to energy-intensive compute cycles.

But I don't need to use apocalyptic language like 600 hIrOsHiMa-cLaSs aToMiC bOmBs to be motivated in coming up with better solutions.
