Al, TA has NOTHING to do with the fundamentals (what is known or knowable about a company from public sources). TA has EVERYTHING to do with studying charts - volume and price movements. If you don't understand that very basic principal, then we have nothing to discuss. Here's the priority that I use when first evaluating a stock: TA first, fundos second. If the TA doesn't meet my requirements, it's sayonara, no matter how good the fundos are. If the TA is perfecto mundo, but the fundos stink, it's hasta la bye bye. All of this is done within the framework of my investment approach. Do I miss some stocks that have good potential? Yes but so what as long as I can sleep at night? And, oh, by the way, beat market averages. I don't know very much about 99.9% of the stocks on today's markets but I do know a whole lot about the ones I own. That's enough and it works for me.
I wish you well on your short term approach which from my vantage point appears to be based on your emotions as much as anything else. If it works for you, fine. If not, you've got some work to do.
