i'm thinking that possibly the selling
of $732 mil. of receivables to banking institutions
maybe a positive, if in fact the receivables
are in foreign currencies.
with a strong us dollar, why would CPQ want to
risk exposure to unstable asian currencies?
does anyone know the nature of these receivables?

also CPQ may have been padding 4Q 97,
while looking ahead to a blowout 1Q 98.

just a thought....paul.
