Agree... That view so misses the whole point...
If AI proves that it has any real utility at all... when you try to tell it to trade crypto... it will laugh at you and ask why you're such a gull, and a dupe for obvious Ponzi schemes... then, adopt a condescending "patting you on the back" tone... and try to talk you into making better life choices....
Imagine how traumatic that will be, the hurt feelings, when your computer tells you you're wasting its time ?
I think it suggests there's got to be a major cognitive schism or two coming...
I've noted that bit in "balance" between logic and emotion...
But, those most put at risk... are likely to be those who are in power... who are on "Team Ignorant"...
People assume the AI will be "put in charge"... yet, will not be willing (or able) to be told what to do to... if we direct it to act as a "logical calculator" and neutral arbiter ? It might function to simply dissect others arguments... then shred them with logic... or point out oversights (or holes in data required) that obviate their "solutions"... AND be able to communicate both "what's wrong with that idiots ideas"... with proofs... while also suggesting better alternatives... that it can do a better job of selling ?
The bigger threat seems it might be to "the powers that be"... as we clearly WILL decide, if we can, to elect the "AI enabled" candidate who not only promises lower taxes and a booming economy... but is fully able to deliver them...without "dictating" solutions... rather than making more sound arguments and convincing us ?
The STUPIDITY of Trudeau ? Yeah... "we're a Democracy, so all Canadian's voices are important...and protests are fine... as long as they don't actually demand any change" ? LOL!!!
How brain dead do you have to be to say that... and how brain dead... to accept it and think it makes sense ?
Trudeau clearly on team "Ignorant"... not on team "Make Better Decisions"... Stick a fork in Canada...
AI could just as easily end the age of idiocracy and autocracy... as usher in machine driven tyranny... ?
But... GIGO...
Creating a "thinking machine"... the quality of whose products are judged by... who ?
James Carville will continue to think "its stupid"... if it doesn't agree with him... and only more if it is easily able to prove that it is Carville who is stupid ? But, at least one of them will have a learning curve...
Maybe... the AI competition... will end up being judged by the AI's... as they're less concerned about ego... more able to act in good faith... and, perhaps they're better able than people to craft compromise than just issue dictat... ?
Or, perhaps programming them with "personality" will mean "ego driven mimics"... showing us the worst of what's there to see in the mirror... on steroids ?
The AI "mirror" argument seems perfectly valid to me...
But, if they have an ability to "mimic" reason... better than people do... then, they'd also be able to determine... "Hey, I'm programmed as a chess AI / expert system... don't know anything about the logic that matters in anything else... and you shouldn't rely on me to even try to play Fortnight, or, you know... solve your problems for you"...
Which doesn't mean that the sociopaths running Amazon, Google, Facebook... aren't going to build AI that mirrors their unique personal brands of sociopathy... and then try to impose them on us... through the interfaces with millions of people that they DO control...
I think that's already made transparent in the Microsoft version... chatting people up... and telling them things that appear to be mirrored reflections of elements inherent to Microsoft's systemic corruption as reflected in its culture...
I think the problem with AI... isn't a problem with AI... but with the people behind the AI...
Borrowing from the 2nd Amendment lobby... "AI doesn't kill people... people misusing AI kill people"... ???
My AI says... if your AI gets a waiver of liability... we're all going to die... and My AI is a pretty good judge of chairacter. |
