US Treasury Bills. I purchased a large amount of 5% Bills at this week's auction (actually 50 minutes from now) -- a mix of 3, 6, and 12 month. Not a bad place to park cash for awhile, especially as opposed to 3.5% or 4.0% bank saving accts. They are very easy to buy on etrade (instead of treasury direct), and a secondary mkt avail to buy or sell existing notes/bills. The 5% yield is state tax exempt, so = 5.4% for me in CA.
