Miraje,
Did you know that when the USSR broke up, there were discussions about Russia joining NATO? Should have happened, IMO.
That's irrelevant and is no excuse for PooTin's war of choice.
Do a little digging into relevant history
That's when you start entering into the ranks of Cyber Front Z. "dO yOuR rEsEaRcH. lEaRn sOmE hIsToRy," they all demand as they push PooTin's revisionist history upon all of us observers.

Either way, even the "relevant" history isn't truly relevant. Ukraine doesn't want to be part of RuZZia. Poland and other former members of the Warsaw Pact don't want to return back to the Soviet Union.

RuZZia is taking by force what they couldn't get through subterfuge or diplomacy, and they're abusing nuclear brinkmanship to satisfy PooTin's imperial lusts. NO amount of rElEvAnT hIsToRy justifies this.

The ONLY question that remains is whether we Americans should give a Brandon about Ukraine.

I argue that we should, if we still consider it important to defend the ideals of freedom, democracy, and small-L liberalism amongst our allies.

Either that, or we should just retreat into Fortress America like what Pat Buchanan always wanted.
