Odd given that Russia isn't occupying any part of Ukraine west of Donbas
He went for Kyiv. There was a 40 km line of tanks all aiming for Zelensky himself. RuZZia's best troops parachuted into the outskirts of Kyiv, ready to clear the way for a full-scale assault.

Only later when that assault failed spectacularly did PooTin pretend that "Donbas was the goal all along."

And even afterwards, Kyiv and the rest of Ukraine continues to be hit over and over again by RuZZian missiles and Iranian drones. Not just Donbas, mind you, but ALL of Ukraine.

Meanwhile Zelensky isn't even allowed to reciprocate and attack civilian infrastructure on RuZZian soil. The aid from NATO would dry up if that happened.

In any case, "Donbas was the goal all along" is a complete lie. I might have believed it had PooTin stuck with it from the beginning, but he didn't.
