COTS as of January 31, 2023 (3 week delay)

COT Report Published

The Commitment of Traders report was published with a three week delay due to the time taken to re-establish publication after a cyber-related incident at the end of January.

In the week ending January 31st, 2023 the changes to the commercial positions were very small. The commercials increased their short position in silver slightly (973 contracts) and decreased their short position in gold very slightly (34 contracts).

Ed Steer's comments:

"Needless to say, I don't need to see the current COT numbers to know that we're back to white-hot bullish for a moon-shot rally in silver...when the powers-that-be decide."

"The gold price is still above its 200-day moving average by 35 dollars in its current front month as of the close of trading on Friday -- and if they're aiming to take that out, then there's certainly more price pain to go in the other three precious metals as well."
