It also provides an opportunity for introspection... to look beyond the tactical... to the strategic level concerns as seen in historical hindsight... history conditioning current and future events.
It's apparent that Bush I succeeded, even with the Gulf War made a necessary part of enabling that, in engineering a "soft landing" for everyone... as the Soviet Union disintegrated. How crazy is it, ya think, that the risk of nuclear war back then... was dramatically less than it is today ?
Clinton, though... mucked it up... apparently mostly due to $ interest in corruption...
Hillary nailed that Bush enabled opportunity shut... apparently as she proved to the Russians that they should not take her seriously. So, the real opportunity for rapprochement that did previously exist... got pissed away in a booze fueled hot tub party... that had Hillary declaring victory... primarily over her domestic political opponents, but, incidentally to that... over Russia... with her stupid "reset" button / "emergency stop" button schtick. The Russians (correctly) read the meaning of her unhinged antics as "emergency stop". Thus, Hillary's personal pique at being dismissed by them as an amateur and poseur... led to the Democrats adopting her full bore political insanity... pairing the corruption of the state with interference in elections... while fraudulently posturing "Russia, Russia, Russia" as a means to bully her political opponents while seeking power, but also to precondition Democrats to accept pretexts for fostering war with Russia... because they'd hurt Hillary's feelings... and that's how sociopaths deal with that sort of thing. Trump, along with any who knew what was going on, or figured it out... found that insane... which was why his electoral victory sent Hillary off the deep end... and gave them all the more pretext for intervening in corrupting elections... as blaming "Russia" rather than themselves... for voters correctly determined choice. All of that... so that we could work at have a pretext for a nuclear war with Russia... in order to pay them back for Hillary's being insulted by their dismissal of her ? Seems a bit much, to me...
What you see in result, now... is an amalgam of Democrat fostered policies playing out... as you would expect. They meld Obama's stupid "leading from behind" BS... which means "the U.S. adopting European interests as their own, while following Europe's lead" (the antithesis of Washington's warnings) and the exact reason for having "natural born citizen" requirements written into the Constitution... and wrongly ignored by Democrats in electing him. Pairing that up with Hillary's insanity obfuscating American's proper consideration of their own interest... without her ego being the lens it is seen through, and the touchstone of Democratic politics... and Biden's own brand of personal corruption... with a brain stuck reliving the 1950's...
and, here we are...
The part of that which CANNOT be Russia's fault... given the condition Russia was left in following the dissolution of the Soviet Union ? The decade from 2001 (Gulf War, fall of Berlin Wall) to 2011 (opening of Nordstream I)... in which Russia languished in economic isolation and obscurity... before slowly gaining the means for getting back on its feet... entirely pissed away...
Worth noting, too, that the window of opportunity that existed... and the ability the Trump Administration had... to try to put the wheels back on failed American policy... was deliberately sabotaged by the Hillary directed frauds... making Trump and Russia the bad guys... for not wanting to have conflict be the only option...
None of the American's obvious failures... and they are legion and legendary... are "an excuse" or justification for Russia's own failures... as in not sustaining a path that could lead to Russia's recent economic success being made sustainable... whether the American's continued to have their heads up their asses or not ?
The Americans... some now on record as "wishing to have Russia bleed itself out" on the battlefield in Ukraine... seems to me not a particularly good reason for Russia to volunteer to do so ?
Even if you believe "Putin was goaded into it"... or, "had no choice"... that makes you as stupid as they are.

Also nothing new to see in terms of the U.S. and China both playing a game of "let's you and him fight"... the end results of which are... China stands to inherit "some of" the residuals of the Russian empire in the east... and benefits more from Russia's failure than any other... while the U.S. "re-balances" its relationship with Europe... with Europe opting to be a bit less delusional... but, still, essentially a millstone... intent on foisting its own brand of dysfunction on Europe... but, perhaps, a shade less a "strategic competitor"... given they can't defend themselves... from Russia... or from themselves... without adult leadership... which neither Europe, Russia, China, or the U.S. are currently capable of supplying.
Essentially, none of that would matter all that much... if you didn't have the global equivalent of a classroom full of "special" children, each prone to behavioral abnormalities and temper tantrums... waving nuclear weapons around... while proclaiming themselves to be in charge... without doing anything to accept actual responsibility for anything ? |
