Hi E_K_S,

It is a bit of a wonder to me as well.

In REIT's I didn't like it.

In KMI, I questioned it and noticed it reduced my cost basis.

After seeing it for years, I view it as my money coming back tax free. If and when I sell it, it locks in a max tax of 20% = long term capital gains, the same rate as dividends. Either I prefer.

I understand it to be possible that when their profits fund completely their capex internally. It could well be the cashless expense of depreciation that constitutes the return of capital, good thought!

None the less, I've learned to like the return of capital, on a tax free basis, however you label it. Sooner or later it will be on the market's money. Pretty sure, then taxes will hit! LOL I'm OK on that! <smile>

Always enjoy and value your thoughts and observations!

Best of trades!

Bob
