Jane, if you don't feel comfortable that your church will use the money for God's purposes, why do you go there? I don't mean this as a rhetorical question. A few years ago I was in a church which took in pretty darn good funds but spent practically nothing on missions or anything else. The pastor got a large salary from a small congregation, and anything left over went to social events for church members. The final straw was when they gave the "youth orchestra", newly formed and with about 10 members, a $5000 budget, while they cut back the payment to the only missionary they supported, to something like $100-month. At that point I had lost any faith that that church was using the money to do God's work. I found a better church.
