the vie structure is what it is. has been around from the get go. I suppose of the PRC wants to become completely insular like North Korea and like Albania was back in the day they can do it but that will lead to starvation for millions of people. Otherwise they need to rethink their policies as foreign investment has probably slowed to a trickle now. I suspect that Chinese have depleted a lot of their savings as a result of the Covid lockdown. Between real estate woes and covid lockdown I wonder what the mood of the people is like right now. I suspect that PRC is trying to shift blame from their screwed up economic policies onto the USA but I doubt the Chinese people will buy into it, Just like the Russian people are not buying in to the Ukraine war. Putin can only travel by armored train now.
