I went back to school while I was at Edwards. My physics teacher worked at NASA and one of our final exam questions was to compute the re-entry profile for the space shuttle that was landing there in a couple days. No way to argue the answer since he already knew his was correct. My project management class teacher was a real rocket scientist.
The best teacher I had was a last minute replacement. Deshovelled looking old guy. I was arguing with him about how the Fed worked and after class he told me I was right but he had to teach the book version. Somehow oil storage came up and he wanted to know how I knew so much about the strategic reserve. That's when he finally divulged that he was an economic advisor for Reagan and worked on the strategic reserve build. We spent hours and hours after each class just talking. I learned more drinking coffee with him than I did in all my classes before or after.
