You really don't want to drive them yourself. The buses are quite a ride. These are full sized busses and they just go. I don't know anything about Cinque Terre but Amalfi is quite nice. I was dumfounded how they live there. All the structures carved into the sides of the hills. They're like goats. The cruise boats were not running when we were there. It's definitely the way to go. We hired a cab to go from Roma to Amalfi. $350 Euros one way.
