To me, it was interesting that there were obvious miscalculations and sloppiness in that attack against Vuhledar. And no one was punished, no heads rolled - and, to the contrary, the general received a promotion.
So, what was it all about? He mentioned that many of the soldiers came from Tatarstan. They were Tatars. Is it that the Russian command made an executive decision… to look the other way? Not ruin their relationship with Tatarstan over a relatively minor operation? Or, perhaps, the General wasn’t involved and wasn’t really responsible? Or, perhaps he’s politically untouchable because, likely, he’s also a Tatar - and the Russians don’t want to destroy the guy who is, likely, a great star in Tatarstan? So, they decided to give him a larger star instead - and kick him out upstairs?
The whole story sounds to me a bit bureaucratic and Soviet. Someone was incapable of understanding the situation on the ground. Didn’t consider the Five Eyes, the drones up in the air, the 1000 mine launchers, given to Ukr by the U.S.- which, apparently, can create minefields quickly and remotely.
Being sloppy isn’t a way to fight these days. And covering up sloppiness won’t make things better.
All I know is what‘s in that video. Maybe in reality, things were different. Can’t jump to conclusions. But, we’ll see.
Nice tune, btw. I think it’s misleadingly simple :) |
