This is a case of Atmel returning to it's roots. Originally all the principles that started Atmel came from Seeq. What they did was take all their know-how to Atmel and build a better eprom and almost put Seeq out of business. In fact Seeq got out of the eprom business and is now struggling to compete in eathernet. It is total irony that Atmel now is picking at the carcass of Seeq, but I guess they are looking to diversify.
