The scariest place I have ever been to was in Tijuana. I've walked the streets of Bangkok, Manila, Singapore and Jakarta with no fear. Tijuana is the only place I've been searched for weapons to go into a restaurant. We almost got robbed in a bar. We walked across the border because the car rental agency warned us not to drive there. On the way back to the border I bought a big bottle of beer not to drink but to use for a weapon if need be.
