As I see it, most of SIVB’s deposit base was tech startups and tech execs, and on Thursday a couple of VC firms sent emails to their startups instructing them to withdraw their balances from SIVB. Turned into a self fulfilling waterfall liquidity event. Yelling fire in a crowed room never ends well. No reason to think this will spread to other banks.
