Three unexpected returns...

For some reason I thought Endeavour was over and done with, but a new season has begun. I watched the first episode last night and it was up to par, lushly photographed, well acted, and tightly scripted. (BTw, if you are sharp-eyed and spotted the name 'That' on the credits, it is indeed Abigail Thaw, who is the daughter of John Thaw who played Morse in the original Inspector Morse series.)

I'm not much of one for sitcoms, but I did like Party Down. It had a great setup: the characters are wannabe Hollywood types who work at a catering company that does parties for Hollywood bigwigs. You can imagine the possibilities for satire, and the tight script writing and excellent acting carried through on the premise, never descending to the boring predictable hijinks that mar most sitcoms. Now all of a sudden, 13 years after the second season, it's back with most of the original cast, albeit no Lizzy Caplan, who was great in the first two season. I haven't watched it yet; I'll let you know when I do.

And remember the uptight DI from the middle years of Death in Paradise? He's back in the series Back in Paradise. He has moved to Devon in search of a quiet stress-free life, but one assumes his little village will instead go Midsomer, i.e have an inordinate number of murders for such a small place. I haven't watched any of it yet.
