Phil, on: << Switzerland history of non-alignment continues to serve her very well. >>, you are undeniably right. My concern is for how much longer will this be the case? The biggest drawback is that Swiss people have trouble to obtain e.g. work permits outside of Switzerland. If you want to work for a German co., they have to apply for your work permit; I think the German employer must (under certain circumstances) demonstrate that he could not find a well-qualified German or other EU guy for the job. Guess for yourself how many Swiss are working abroad <g>. This is the main drawback in Switzerland not being in the EU. I think especially the young dislike this immensly. Me too.

Thomas

P.S. You know what the Swiss say for Hi or Hello? "Gruezi" (incredible word)
