[appain vs colorgraphic]

i finally dowloaded the driver for the colorgraphic evolution:

after reading the installation note, it is not clear to me whether
you can setup a resolution/refresh rate individually for each monitor. they are always taking about 'array dimension' and 'array refresh rate'. indeed, re-checking their web site wrt a different size/refresh rate feature they dont mention it.
so, this could be a serious drawback in case you have diffrent types of monitors.
appian, however, states clearly:
An exclusive feature of Appian multi-monitor solutions is the ability to have different refresh rates and different resolutions on each monitor.

display arranging for colorgraphics: according to the installation note you can specify the number of displays horizontally and vertically individually

summarizing:

colorgraphic has the higher refresh rate for a given resolution but
(probably) you must run all your monitors at the same resolution/refresh rate (ask them for that missing feature)

appain has the lower refresh rate, the more advanced graphic chip (cirrus laguna) and a software driver which gives you total flexibility in your configuration

whether you should choose colorgraphic or appian ...it depends.
to keep it simple:
if you have an old (=slow one) and a new (=fast one) i guess you must select appain. if you want to buy a new set of monitors then you may select colorgrafic and you will get a better picture quality for resolutions higher than 1024x768 per port (the ramdac has a higher bandwidth)
