Driving up the I-5 in CA you'll see a feedlot. The cattle stand in manure 5' deep. Ranchers inject them with antibiotics so their legs don't become infected. When it rains they sink down into it. You can smell the feedlot from miles away depending on the breeze. The urea run off is the 2nd biggest source of water pollution in the US. There's a lot of it.

Only the rich ate a lot meat until refrigerated cattle cars were developed turning Chicago into the nations slaughterhouse and Americans into walking heart disease patients. Gout is called the disease of royalty.
