Philv & Thomas: Haven't you heard, the Swiss are going to dump a lot of gold come 1999. I guess this was one the reasons why the gold price is so depressed, so after '99 the Swiss may not have all that gold to back their currency anymore. I don't know what prompted them to this,perhaps Thomas knows the reason.

Sweizerland is one country who would have no problem meeting the criteria of the EMU, having perhaps the strongest currency, most strongly backed by gold (40%) compared to any other nation.
