I'm a big proponent of free trade, too...

But, what we have with China now is NOT free trade... it is "managed trade" controlled by the state... or, fascist mercantilism... which is about as far from free trade as you can get... as what we have now is "trade"
but, it is trade that is primarily based in fraud, monopoly, and obstruction of participation...

You're merely recycling the capitalists mantra... no rules for me, only rules for you... into a trade argument vs economic argument...

Otherwise, the "right rules"... have to be acknowledged, enforced, as well in trade as in "a free market" ?

The current relationship is wildly imbalanced... and it will fail because of that... as it must...

But, also, of course... not plausible to sustain a relationship in trade very long when one side has as its purpose prosecuting a war against the other... ?
