Sabotage? Yes, but Not directly. The sabotage was based on Fear, Fear of dying, getting Covid like the Black Plague. Fear of dying is a very powerful motivator, which, of course, is not rational.

A country is only as solid as its banks. The bailouts were necessary, however detestable.

Again, Regional banking crisis happened because of failure of management to manage risk. Rising Fed Funds at the pace the Fed was doing was intended to create a crisis to slow down the economy. So, yes, it was planned. It is all part of the economic business cycle. Unemployment is yet to rise and a major credit event is coming to complete the cycle and begin the next bull. It is not the end of the world.
