I dunno what the point of no return is, but it was already too late to meet the Paris goal of 1.5 degrees when the accords were signed, and it's prolly too late to keep it below 2 degrees.
And yet, humanity survives. The population of the world continues to increase, along with living standards and life expectancies.

(Eventually, the world's population will stop growing, but that won't be because of climate-induced disasters, but rather people choosing not to have as many children as before.)

That's the thing. Every time we cross a "point of no return," there is no civilization-ending calamity.

Even Harold Camping got it wrong once before people stopped listening to him.
