Wharfie,
"Driving horses is now part of pre-modern life", said many. Replacing ICE's with ZEVs is now part of post-modern life.
I've heard that line many times before. No offense, but it's stupid.

Cars are orders of magnitude more convenient and better performing than horses.

EVs? Not at all. They're not better performing. Recharging is much less convenient than refueling. They're more expensive. Range is an issue, especially in cold environments. Electric trucks, SUVs, minivans, and similar vehicles aren't mature enough yet to replace their gas-powered counterparts.

By the way, I have more thoughts on the fundamental EV charging problem. It occurred to me as I was once again looking for a place to charge up my plug-in hybrid.

Bottom line: Moving California to an EV-only future is an incredible hassle and will cost us dearly, even after we count the savings from less fossil fuels and less air pollution. (And I'm not even counting the "benefits" of virtue-signaling to the world how we Californians are supposedly stopping the climate from changing.)
