da_cheif, It was fluorescent light bulbs that were to replace incandescent light bulbs, but LED became the thing. Fluorescent bulbs did not last a long time as advertised. I had to replace them ever few months, so there was no savings. But LED bulbs last a very long time and use very little electricity. LED bulbs is all I have in my office and residence now.
