We must remember the uncertainty (hype) before the 1991 war is (rightly) absent today. Back then, the Iraquis were all 10 feet tall, didn't need to sleep, could get the nutrition they needed by eating sand, could take a bullet in the heart and still snap your neck, were battle-hardened from the 1980-88 war with Iran, etc., etc. Two days into the "ground war" they were surrendering to 3-man CNN camera crews driving Toyota Camrys. No such uncertainty now about how any conflict with Iraq will go!
