It's unclear to me whether Trump would have executed the A*ghanistan withdrawal any better than Brandon.

The point is that the buck stops with Brandon. He took ownership of it back in July of 2021, which was the right thing to do, but unfortunately he was fed bad info and thus made assumptions that he is now paying for.

On the other hand, it's not like the news should have been a surprise. Democracy Dies In Darkness already wrote an article on how we were making much less progress in A*ghanistan than what officials were claiming. This was back in December of 2019. (Unfortunately Democracy Dies Behind Paywalls, and I can't find a link to a free copy of that article ...)
