Monaco - Creative Technologies (CREAF) is the SoundBlaster company.

They are a Singapore company I believe but have a big office in San Jose.

Their Soundblaster Technology is the standard in the industry but there are several competitors (smaller) with newer and better technology.

The addition of high quality sound to Intel's chip sets would help them to suck in even more of the system components into silicon, but even a little company like Cyrix was able to reverse engineer the Soundblaster compatibility for their MediaGX.

Speaking of Cyrx - Intel should "copy" Cyrix's Soundblaster knock-off - after all, Intel now has an extended patent cross license agreement with NSM/Cyrix - so that little gem is up for grabs.

Also, since they are a Singaporean company (CREAF), that would not make it an easy acquisition for Intel.
