Dentists are Capitalists, just like everyone else. I was diagnosed with Perio disease back in 2018 by my good friend Dentist. He referred me to the "top" Periodontist in Encino, Ca. who immediately started me on a deep cleaning schedule, hand scaling my quadrants, laser scaling, anti biotics, the whole nine yards. Nothing was effective. About 6 Months went by and I developed a bad toothache on #19, so I went in for a consult/extraction. He casually walked in, did not look in my mouth, and then said "We need to pull ALL your teeth right away, as the bacteria will infect your gum line, enter your bloodstream, and give you Heart disease and then you will die. I swear we need to do this, I would tell my Wife the same thing." I asked him if the divorce was really that acrimonious, and he walked out of the room. So did I. When I got home I did some extensive research with the ADA (Dental Association) and found 472 peer reviewed abstracts on the Correlation between Heart disease and Periodontal disease published since 1951. Yes, there is a corollary. So I then went to the AHA (Heart Association) website and found ONE peer reviewed abstract that stated a corollary between heart disease and perio disease is factual, but ZERO causation between the two. The same holds true with old age, lots of correlation, no causation. It has been over 5 years since I was advised to extract ALL my teeth. I have had one removed, #19 with the decay. ALL other teeth are fine, no pain and no heart disease. Get a second, third and fourth opinion before you pay some jerk to remove your teeth. I'm 66 years old and smiling and eating corn on the cob. Just got bad gums. |
