MRI imaging has shown that in most gays and transgenders the portion of their brain that deals with sexual orientation is similar to that of the opposite sex. In other words, this is not a matter of choice. If someone was born with sever nose deformation or a cleft lip, you would not question them having an operation for it. But this rubs people the wrong. In part because they can't see the brain structure and do not know about it. And in part because the person is not able to get a brain surgery and fix their brain so ends up "fixing" the rest of their body.

Regardless, I don't see why it should be ok to discriminate against people who are born differently.
