The SEC hasn't been rational in their decision making in decades and are chronically understaffed to take on the kind of trading crimes they are purportedly tasked to enforce by law. So a lot of their high profile legal maneuvers appear to show political bias depending on the current administration.

The BTC quotes you see on TV or your broker page are using an exchange, a composite of major exchange prices, or some other type of cash based index of exchanges.

There are way too many ETFs and ETNs out there, imo. BTC isn't going away but if you're purely a paper-pusher of BTC as opposed to actually holding your own keys and coins, there are plenty of ways to play the price movements of BTC and each have their tradeoffs. Will keep it simple and stick to entities that mostly reflect the fluctuation in BTC aside from GBTC. There is OBTC and MSTR. There are listed futures, and perpetual futures on shadier offshore entities that more resemble bucket shops. Would never recommend the latter two to anyone but have used them all well over the years.
